Dr. Larry A. Vold

Larry Vold has been working at Neighborhood for 27 years (since March 1980). Larry currently serves as the Senior Pastor.

Tell us about yourself:

I was born and raised on the San Francisco Peninsula in a family that modeled Jesus Christ to me. As a boy I gave my heart to Jesus and made a greater commitment when I reached High School. Pursuing a career as a Fire Fighter, God redirected my vocational path to the pastorate. I've been in ministry since 1975.

What do you do as Senior Pastor?

I equip people to serve in the body of Christ. I lead a pastoral staff, preach at weekend services, spend a fair amount of time helping people one-on-one as well as in small groups. I pray, share my faith, get to know Jesus each day and spend a fair amount of time asking God to help me not mess up.

What is the best part of your job?

Seeing life-change in people. Watching people step over the line of faith and receive Jesus Christ--and grow in Him.

Also...only having to work one day a week. (Just kidding!)

What do you think you would be doing right now if God had not called you to be in ministry?

I would probably be near retirement as a Fire Fighter (most guys my age are about done with that line of work!).

What do you order at Starbucks?

If mornings...tea or coffee, afternoons an ice tea or mocha frappuchino.

If you could be doing anything right now, what would it be?

Fishing.

What is your favorite movie quote?

If you had a million dollars to spend today, what would you buy?

Spiritual answer: Bibles and food for those in need. Fleshly answer: A cabin deep in the mountains!

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

Heart: Replace evil with good.
Flesh: Get rid of cell phones.

What talent do you wish you had?

Carpentry

What food do you absolutely love? What food do you hate?

I love smoked salmon. There is really no food I hate!
