Short Term Missions Program: Step 5

Global Outreach--The Process

Every mission trip is unique, but generally speaking each Neighborhood Church missionary is required to process through the following five steps:

  1. Life Development Seminars These five Seminars are designed to prepare a Christian for ministry in the church and a mission in the world. All Neighborhood Church missionaries should be involved in our Life Development process.

  2. Membership All Neighborhood Church missionaries must be members of Neighborhood Church, which means they have graduated from Seminar 101.

  3. Short Term Missions Application This application provides Neighborhood Church the information we need to approve a Neighborhood Church missionary & missions trip.

  4. Missions Approval The pastor overseeing short-term missions (Randy Odom) approves, with the help of our missions team leader and pastoral staff, all missions trips sponsored by Neighborhood Church.

  5. Missions Mentor All Neighborhood Church approved missionaries receive a missions mentor who comes alongside to encourage a Neighborhood Church missionary as they prepare to go and return from a missions trip.

As well as the five required steps, the following three areas are not required but are recommended to all short-term missionary candidates:

  1. Missions Exploration This course offered twice a year at Neighborhood Church aids candidates on a discovery process for short-term missions.

  2. Missions Resources The following is recommended reading for those preparing to participate in a missions opportunity.
