Missionaries: Mike Squires (Togo, W. Africa)

What I Do:
I serve as the Wycliffe Bible Translators Community Development Trainer and Consultant for the countries of Togo and Benin in West Africa through community development, literacy and teaching Scripture through storyboards.

I assist people in identifying their needs and the resources they possess for meeting those needs. Emphasis is on leadership training, literacy, health and agriculture. This helps communities and their leaders take initiatives in solving their problems themselves, improving lives and strengthening the local churches.

Praise God for this opportunity to train African church leaders how to work together to solve problems, and to educate their communities on the necessity for a literacy program so that they can read the Word of God in their mother tongue.

Finances:
No Wycliffe missionary receives a salary. The income received from financial partners pays for housing, monthly living expenses, transportation, program supplies, training, health care insurance, and visas. In addition, I will have a special expense for a vehicle needed to do extension work.

Prayer:
Pray that the Kabye congregations will be strengthened to overcome jealousy and pride and become ever more faithful servants of God.

Pray that congregations of the different denominations will work together in peace and unity, shining the light of Christ's love in their communities.

Pray that more Kabye congregations will start literacy courses in January so that their members will be able to read God's Word in the own language.
