Missionaries: JD & Emily Dueck (West Africa)

What We Do:
JD & Emily Dueck work among the Fula of West Africa, along with their three children Jacoby (7), Josey and Ethan (both 4).
A Recent Story from the Field:
Josey's Best African Friend Dies: Three year old Assyatou got up, threw up, and then passed out. She hadn't been sick at all. Her mother, our housecleaner, rushed her to the hospital on her moto only to get a flat tire on the way. She tried to flag down passersby to help as she sobbed through tears, "Help me, help my baby!" Assyatou was pronounced dead on arrival. When Josey heard the news she was overwhelmed with grief and tears. Later she said, "Daddy she didn't know Jesus, she's in hell, isn't she?" Now, how would you answer that?
The funeral greeting of wailing and weeping was heart-wrenching. JD's participation in the burial was sad and sobering. Nonetheless, it was a reminder to us on how fragile life is and how quickly we can face eternity. "Show me, O LORD, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life" (Psalm 39:4). Two things are certain, we are all going to leave this earth one day and "Salvation is found in no one else but Jesus (italics mine), there is no other name in heaven on earth or under the earth by which we are saved" (Acts 4:12). Pray we can be instruments in God's hands to bring comfort, salvation, and peace to Colon, her husband, and family.
